Craig W. Davis, PhD
Center Director
Dr. Davis received his BS in Microbiology from Purdue University and his PhD from the Department of Industrial & Physical Pharmacy at Purdue University under the mentorship of Professor Dane O. Kildsig. During his nearly 14-year tenure at Burroughs Wellcome, he held positions of Group Leader of Sterile Products Development and Section Head of Liquid Dosage Forms Development & Physical Pharmacy. Dr. Davis worked at Bausch & Lomb Pharmaceuticals in Tampa, Florida, as the Director of Pharmaceutical Product Development before leaving to start a CRO that was later acquired by MDS to become the Vice-President of Pharmaceutical Development at MDS Pharma Services-Tampa. He is a well published author with both journal articles and book chapters and is a charter member of the AAPS.

Joseph G. Stowell, PhD
QA Director & Associate Director Of Education
Dr. Stowell received his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of California at Davis, specializing in natural-product synthesis. After two years in Technical Services in the agricultural chemical division of Eli Lilly & Company he joined the staff of Purdue University’s School of Pharmacy. In his twenty-one year tenure at Purdue University Dr. Stowell has researched new anti-cancer and anti-AIDS compounds and explored the solid-state properties of drugs. He was responsible for the undergraduate teaching laboratories in the School of Pharmacy — organic (MCMP 204 and MCMP 205), analytical (MCMP 310), and the Integrated Laboratory series (PHRM 301, PHRM 302, PHRM 303, and PHRM 304) as well as writing the laboratory manuals used in those courses. Dr. Stowell was the Director of Quality Assurance for SSCI Inc., a contract analytical laboratory, for over five years. At SSCI he was responsible for the regulatory and quality assurance of the firm. He is the coauthor of the second edition of “Solid-State Chemistry of Drugs” with Stephen R. Byrn and Ralph R. Pfeiffer as well as the editor of the Foundations of Pharmaceutical Science Series from SSCI Inc. and is the coauthor of numerous articles and book chapters.

Gerald W. Thomas
Business Development/Project Manager
Mr. Thomas received his BS in Industrial Management from Purdue University. During his 22-year tenure at TRW Commercial Steering Systems, he held positions of Sales Engineer, Customer Response Manager, Project Manager, Manager of Market Research & Planning and Sales Manager. He also worked in the Advancement Office at Purdue University as Director of Development for the Krannert School of Management and later as the Development Director for the College of Technology.

David L. Ewbank RPh
Manager, Manufacturing & Facilities Operations
Mr. Ewbank received his BS in Pharmacy from Purdue University. After five years as a Production Supervisor in Solids Manufacturing with Burroughs Wellcome, he joined Elan Pharmaceutical Research Corporation as Manager of Production & Product Development. David returned to Burroughs Wellcome, where he held positions of Production Supervisor of Solids Manufacturing, Ointments, Liquids & Creams and POMS Specialist for Ointments, Liquids & Creams. He held positions at Glaxo Wellcome as Resource Supervisor for Ointments, Liquids & Creams and as Senior Scientist involved in Formulation Development. Mr. Ewbank was Principal Scientist/Investigator/Team Leader for Clinical Trial Supplies Manufacturing during his three year appointment with GlaxoSmithKline in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. He is an Indiana Registered Pharmacist and a member of the AAPS.

Scott R. Thatcher
Manager, Analytical Services Mr. Thatcher received his Associates Degree in Pharmacy and his BS in Molecular Biology from Purdue University. He has held positions of responsibility with pharmaceutical corporations such as Eastman Chemical Company, Thornton Laboratories and Bausch and Lomb Pharmaceuticals. Scott worked for three years at MDS Pharma Services in Tampa, Florida as a preformulation scientist under the mentorship of Dr. Craig Davis before leaving to accept a position as an analytical chemist for Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, Indiana. Scott is a recognized subject expert in conducting pharmaceutical photostability testing. He is also co-sponsor of a patent method for lowering molecular weight of celluloses, has co-authored numerous journal articles and publications and is a member of the AAPS.

Judith A. Hall PHR
Director of Human Resources
Judith Hall is the Director of Human Resources for the Purdue Research Foundation, The Chao Center for Industrial Pharmacy and Contract Manufacturing and those companies in the Purdue Research Park who require assistance with their human resource needs. She is a graduate of Purdue University and received her BA in Health and Safety Education. Judy obtained her PHR designation in 2004. Her areas of expertise include employment, employee relations, and employment law. Judy has been with the Purdue Research Foundation for 17 years and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.

Debbie K. Hicks PHR
Executive Assistant for Human Resources & Benefits Administrator Debbie Hicks is the Executive Assistant for Human Resources & Benefits Administrator for the Purdue Research Foundation, The Chao Center for Industrial Pharmacy and Contract Manufacturing and those companies in the Purdue Research Park who require assistance with their human resource needs. She obtained her PHR designation in 2005. Her areas of expertise include medical and retirement benefits and HR recruiting. Debbie was employed at Purdue University for over 10 years working with medical and retirement benefits and wellness programs. Prior to the University, she worked at A. E. Staley administering employee benefits and assisting the HR manager. |
